Plain text to clean HTML
Turn text from an email, a document or a form into HTML without writing tags by hand:
- Paragraphs + lists (default): blank lines separate paragraphs (
<p>); single line breaks inside a paragraph become<br>; blocks where every line starts with “-”, “*” or “•” become bullet lists, and “1.” lines become numbered lists. - Each line a : every non-empty line is its own paragraph.
- Line breaks only: keeps the text as one block with
<br>between lines.
Special characters (<, >, &, quotes) are escaped, so text like “5 < 6” or “Tom & Jerry” can’t break your page or inject markup. With Link URLs on, web addresses (including bare ones like example.com) become links.
For formatting such as headings, bold and italics, write Markdown and use the Markdown to HTML Converter instead.
Worked example
Here is what the Text to HTML Converter returns for its built-in example. Settings used: Structure: Paragraphs + lists; Link URLs: on. Click Try an example in the tool above to load it, then change it as you like.
